Dear Homer Glen Business Owner:
As co-chairs of the Homer Glen Community & Economic Development (CED) Committee, we wanted to take this opportunity to inform you of some important matters. Our committee is working on several initiatives to promote local businesses and we would appreciate your involvement.
We are currently constructing a community and economic development website. One of the goals of the site is to encourage economic development and attract customers to your business. We are asking local businesses to help identify the essential website components. Please go to www.homerglen.org and complete a short on-line survey. We will be asking residents to respond in August, but would like your response by July 15th so we can begin programming the economic development features.
The committee has also launched a Shop Homer Glen campaign to encourage residents to choose local businesses when purchasing goods and services. Part of the program is an ongoing education and marketing campaign to inform residents of the many benefits received when they shop locally. We are also investigating ways in which our businesses may participate. Preliminary ideas include window decals, customer reward programs, and email promotions. We will be contacting you in the future as CED studies proposals for local participation. In the meantime, please feel free to contact us with your ideas.
Finally, we want to remind you that the sales tax rate increases to 8% on July 1, 2009 in Homer Glen. You should have received a letter from the Illinois Department of Revenue informing you of the change and the items exempt from the increase. The increase is part of a community development initiative designed to make Homer Glen a better place to live, work, and shop.
We see many exciting opportunities here in Homer Glen. We look forward to working with you.
Very truly yours,
Mary Niemiec and Laurel Ward
Co-Chairs Homer Glen Community & Economic Development Committee
