Each year since its incorporation in 2001, the Village celebrates its anniversary by planting a tree. As part of the celebration, Homer Glen also recognizes its citizens who generously donate their time and expertise by volunteering on various committees, commissions, agencies, and task forces throughout the year. This year, a Village Logo and Slogan Contest was also held.
Village Logo and Slogan Contest
A Village logo and slogan contest was sponsored by the Community & Civic Involvement Committee. Anthony Ficke, Kerri Treacy, and Dale Vogelsanger each submitted similar entries that were selected as the winning concept for the Homer Glen logo. The Village slogan, "Community and Nature...in Harmony" was crated by Patti Maska and submitted by Dale Vogelsanger. Honorable Mention Awards were given to five additional entries submitted by Patricia Manion Caauwe, the Gina Provenzano Family, the Sass Family, Ann Schipits, and Susan Townsend. Luttrell Engraving combined the winning logo concepts to create the final artwork. The winners were recognized at the Village's First Annual Tree Planting Ceremony.
